  • Yes I agree it was a very useful experience and should develop us and our kids to be better and improve

3-6 Loss v Victoria Park
Some good passages of play and plenty of great work on the pitch. Great start with a couple of long range efforts, but unfortunately not enough to overcome a stronger side.

South perth united worked together coming back from 2-0 down after the half to draw 2-2. Goal of the year so far went to Ashton with a brilliant right foot to the top corner. Jonas also scored. Mirac was brilliant in defense and midfield stopping the opposition countless times.

We scored 4 goals today!!! It was our second game. We played against Lynwood United FC and lost 10:4. Kids tried to remain in their positions, played along the sidelines and passed the ball to other players. Defence, goalie and 1vs1 were our weak points today. However, it was a huge improvement in comparison to our first game two weeks ago.
Scorers: 1x William Riodan, 2x Lachlan Durnie, 1x Dhilan Bhat.
Player of the Match is William Riordan for scoring the very first goal for the U9 Pumas.

Round 4 – 15 May 2022 Port Kennedy vs South Perth United (result 4-3 Win for South Perth)
It was an overcast cloudy day; grass was wet and heavy to run on. South Perth Lions played well as a team, Port Kennedy put up good resistance and came back with a couple goals of their own. The team played well and missed a few opportunities at goal but overall tried their hardest.
Goal scorers Yonathan 3, Meihuan 1. The team were assisted by a couple of players from Panthers Yonathan and Declan who assisted the team to a well-earned win. Coaches award to Hussein for good defensive and attacking style of play. Good effort team!!

U10 played a very tight game vs Perth Saints losing 4-2. The game was open for any result till late but we lost a bit of confidence in the final minutes. Good defending with Lucas leading the team and we also dominated the first 10 minutes.

Murdoch University Melville FC vs SPUFC
2-0 loss

The U11s had their first loss of the season against Melville FC today. It was a hard fought contest where we were just not lucky enough. We dominated most of the game but were unlucky to convert our chances.
The players did really well. We passed the ball around and worked together as a Team. We will ride up and come back stronger.

Lost 3:2 against Kalamunda.
Close game could have gone either way. The football west referee attended and did a good job. Goals x 2 Carlos (assists x 2 Erin). Guest player Ved. Team used the wings to good effect today. Out new players made excellent progress; Maddie, Lachy and Arad. The forwards create opportunities when they called and talked. Defence worked as a solid unit, dynamic and fast. Squad is developing very well.

Amateurs First Team - Coach Lee

0-0

May 15, 2022

The First Team were held to a 2-2 draw away to Maccabi.
Maccabi took the lead early on after a cross was deflected into his own net by Lee Thoele, Souths were soon back on level terms when birthday boy Sheldon Mulholland fired home from range. Souths were soon 2-1 up through Brad North.l
Souths looked the better team in the second half but unfortunately couldn’t finish the chances that kept coming and it was Maccabi who hit the only goal of the second half to tie the game 2-2.

Liam Boyce MoM for some great saves in the first half.

Amateurs Ressies - Coach Henry

0-0

May 15, 2022

Today saw the ressies attain, back to back win, beating Maccabi 3-2. The first half was a sea saw affair with chance at both ends. Maccabi took the early lead with some ordinary defending by Souths only for Souths to retaliate with 2 goals within 5 min of conceding. The 1st from B.Hamilton, a left foot volley from the corner of the box, had everyone is ‘Awh’ & definitely a contender for ‘Goal of the Year’ followed by a Nick Fox clinical finish. The 2nd half saw Souths miss multiple chances, hitting the post of 3 occasions, to then conceded. With 10 min remaining, & the intensity at a max, up steps Luke Pedley to slot the ball away at the back post from a N.Fox cross.
Souths held on, displaying great character & determination. MoM: Nick Manley.

Another strong team performance from masters 1 today. Settled in for the first 15mins against an physical mum f.c. Two quick fire goals from Andy & Steve set us on the way, mum f.c scored a penalty on the stroke of halftime to give them hope. Souths hit an extra gear in the second half dominating with 5 unanswered goals from Andy (3) Sam (1) and lunny (1). Great team performance from a team on the up.

Masters Div 2 - Coach Stu

3-0 — L vs Belmont Villa

May 15, 2022

The team were getting into the game straight away from the start. Graham Atkinson opened the ‘cash tin’ at his first attempt. Belmont battled hard against the Masters but Lee Hayward eased the tension with his first hat-trick this year. The old boys then showed the opponents how hard they trained every Wednesday and left no chance to Belmont. Well done Master Div 2 team on their second victory of the season, with the final score 8-0.

A very strange start to the game, we were 3-0 down in the first 10 minutes with some truly Sunday league goals (unstoppable deflections). The team pulled it together and put some pressure on but the opposition scored a couple late to push the scoreline out.

South’s came into this much hungry for our first win of the season. Playing a team who has also had a rocky start to the season was our opportunity this week. We set up to be compact and move the ball quick. A few chances went begging in the first half going into half time nil – nil. The second half started and South’s hit the ground running, a well taken shot from Slattery followed very quickly but another from Shauna although this one less intentional a blocked shit ricocheted off of Slattery’s knee to make it 2 nil. Then Mandurah came full force, putting our defence under pressure for the first time all game before pulling one back. South’s reset and managed to find a third through Barnett as her cross looped over everyone and found itself nestled in the bottom corner. Mandurah came back and won a penalty which was slotted into the bottom corner. Being 3-2 up late in the game made for some pretty intense football. But, Barnett again found space and secured all three points for the Gulls

1-0 - L vs Victoria Park

May 15, 2022

Playing away to the top of the table is nit an easy thing to do on a damp morning, but, that was the challenge facing South’s. Armadale used there 3 key players well but South’s put up a resilient effort with Jones making it 1 all in the 35th minute before Armadale pulled one ahead in the 44th. Going into the half time break 2-1 down the message at half time was simple, “Be aware and keep fighting” South’s came out of the half time break fired up and ready to make the other team work for their points. It was back and forth all second half. Armadale weren’t sure what hit them, but they managed to bag another before Jones again pulled one back for the Gulls with a great strike. Unfortunately, Armadale got a 4th, but we can hold our heads up knowing we made them very very nervous.
